Nigeria Customs Service has launched nationwide auction of seized goods, including bags of rice priced at N10,000.
At a press briefing in Lagos, Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi stressed the initiative’s role in ensuring food security and accessibility.
The NCS, with government approval, plans to distribute confiscated items at reduced prices to deserving Nigerians such as artisans, teachers, nurses and religious groups.
Adeniyi highlighted concerns about food security amidst economic challenges, citing significant outflows of food items to neighboring countries.
