Old Naira notes remain legal till December 31st, Supreme Court says.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria, has declared that the ban on the usage of old N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes as invalid.

The apex court made this declaration on Friday March 3rd 2023 while delivering judgment in a suit instituted by three states of the federation. A seven-member panel of the apex court held that the old N200, N500 and N1000 notes remain legal tender until December 31st, 2023.
