Following his resumption of duty as the duly elected and legally reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillip Shuaibu received a solidarity visit from Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State. The visit, which took place in Benin City, was a significant show of support amidst the recent turbulence.
This visit follows the brutal and unprovoked attack on the Deputy Governor’s convoy at Benin Airport recently. The attack, allegedly carried out by state-sponsored thugs, was a targeted assault on the Deputy Governor’s life as he returned to the state. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from various quarters.
Accompanied by other prominent APC chieftains, Emperor Tenebe unequivocally condemned the heinous act. He expressed his solidarity with the Deputy Governor and celebrated their recent legal victory at the Federal High Court in Abuja, which affirmed the Deputy Governor’s position.
During the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in honor of the gallant police officer attached to the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo’s security detail. The officer tragically lost his life in the unwarranted attack. The Deputy Governor expressed profound sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to the officer’s family, praying for the repose of his soul.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support and kind words from the APC Chairman. He highlighted the exemplary leadership and care demonstrated by Emperor Tenebe, acknowledging the consistent moral support that has bolstered his spirits throughout the ongoing ordeal with the state government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Philip Shuaibu commended Emperor Tenebe for embodying the true spirit of leadership and dedication to the party’s values and the welfare of its members. The solidarity visit not only underscored the unity within the APC but also reinforced the commitment to justice and democratic principles in Edo State.
