SANWOOLU APPOINTS ALARA OF ILARA, OBA OGUNSANWO AS PRO CHANCELLOR OF LASU.

The Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Alara Of Ilara), as the 6th Chancellor of the University.

The appointment follows the successful completion of the tenure of Professor Gbolahan Elias, SAN, who served as the 5th Chancellor. The Lagos State Government and the University community expressed deep appreciation for his meritorious service, noting the distinction and dignity he brought to the office throughout his tenure.

The appointment was made pursuant to the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 (As Amended), Chapter L69, Volume 7, Schedule 1, which empowers the Visitor to appoint the Chancellor of the University.

Oba Ogunsanwo’s tenure is for a single term of five years, effective from Friday, February 13, 2026, and is renewable once.

The Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University have congratulated the new Chancellor on his appointment, expressing confidence in his capacity to provide impactful leadership and further advance the vision and mission of the institution.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu, on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
