UNILAG to graduate 82 year Old record breaking Ph.D holder in Mass communication

Following a successful defense,the University of Lagos,(UNILAG) is set to graduate an 82 year Old veteran Journalist, Chief Dayo Duyile, author of the popular book “Makers of Nigerian Press” with a PhD degree in Mass Communication from the prestigious department.

Mr Dayo Duyile who worked with various defunct newspapers and the finest editors like Late Chief Lateef Jakande and Chief Segun Osoba finally fulfilled an age long dream at 82 years.

Duyile was a former Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and Founding Head of Department,Mass Communication of many Universities including Elizade University, Joseph Ayo Babalola University,Adekune Ajasin University and many more.

With a record of excellence in the academia, his Ph.D. thesis titled : “A Historiography of Emergence and Development of Early Newspapers in Nigeria” at the University of Lagos recounts and documented the early press and various developments and supervised by Prof Ismail Ibrahim.

The 53rd Convocation of UNILAG scheduled to hold January 18,2023 which also coincide with the 60th anniversary of the University where Mr Dayo Duyile was one of the reporters that covered the report of the school establishment back then during the start will be receiving a PhD Degree at the ceremony.
