The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has officially constituted a Local Organising Committee to coordinate and supervise activities relating to the party’s primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development marks a significant step in the party’s early preparations for the forthcoming electoral cycle, as the ruling party in Lagos moves to strengthen its internal structures and ensure a seamless, transparent, and well-coordinated primary election process across the state.
According to details released on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the committee is expected to oversee the administrative, strategic, operational, security, mobilisation, and publicity frameworks that will guide the conduct of the APC primaries in Lagos State.
Leading the committee is Mutiu Are, Secretary of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), who was appointed Chairman of the committee, while Olayinka Adekunle, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, will serve as Secretary.
Political observers note that the composition of the committee reflects the party’s determination to bring together experienced party administrators, strategists, grassroots mobilisers, media experts, and security coordinators to ensure a credible and hitch-free exercise.
The Planning and Strategy Sub-Committee comprises notable party stakeholders including Oyinlomo Danmole, Jide Adams, Abayomi Oluyomi, Folashade Bakare, Olugbenga Nollah, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, Toyin Suarau, and Segun Ogunlewe.
The Contacts and Mobilisation Sub-Committee includes Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Sunday Aboyade, Olayinka Olusanya, Fatai Akinderu, Abayomi Daramola, J.S. Babatunde, Olugbenga Abdullahi, Kazeem Kayode Eleshin, and Fatai Ayoola, all expected to drive grassroots engagement and coordination across the state’s local government areas and LCDAs.
For information management and public communication, the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee features Jide Adams, Balogun Yomi, Ayo Olugbenro, and Haffez Odunewu, who will coordinate media relations and dissemination of official party activities relating to the primaries.
The Security Sub-Committee is headed by Ajibade Taiwo Oyekan alongside Adeola Jokomba, Bayo Sanwo-Olu, and Kamorudeen Adegoke Ajape, with responsibility for maintaining order and ensuring peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.
Also constituted is the Special Duties Sub-Committee made up of Lateef Ibirogba, Damilola Senayon-James, Akeem Muniru, and Mukhtar Tijani, who are expected to handle sensitive operational assignments and special coordination tasks.
The constitution of the committee is seen as part of broader efforts by the Lagos APC leadership to consolidate party unity, deepen internal democracy, and sustain the party’s political dominance in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
Party faithful and political stakeholders are expected to closely monitor the activities of the committee as preparations intensify for what is anticipated to be another major political contest in Lagos State.
