The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has disclosed key decisions regarding the zoning of top party offices ahead of the forthcoming National Convention.

Speaking on preparations for the convention, Basiru confirmed that the position of the APC National Chairman has been zoned to the North Central geopolitical zone, with Plateau State specifically designated to produce the next occupant of the office.

In the same vein, the office of National Secretary has been zoned to the South West, with Osun State identified as the state to fill the strategic position.

According to the APC scribe, the decisions were reached after extensive consultations within the party’s leadership structure, in line with the APC’s long-standing tradition of balancing political representation across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.

He emphasized that while the Chairman and Secretary positions have been adjusted as announced, all other positions within the National Working Committee (NWC) will retain their existing zoning arrangements.

Basiru noted that the zoning formula is aimed at strengthening internal democracy, fostering inclusiveness, and ensuring fairness among party stakeholders nationwide.

He further reassured members that the forthcoming National Convention would reflect unity, stability, and the party’s commitment to institutional continuity.

The APC National Convention is expected to draw delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as the ruling party fine-tunes its leadership structure ahead of future political engagements.
