President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of seven distinguished Nigerians to lead major agencies and programs within the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. This strategic move aims to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of humanitarian and social development initiatives across the country.
1. Dr. Badamasi Lawal is appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). With a doctoral degree in education and prior experience as a commissioner in Katsina State, Dr. Lawal is expected to spearhead impactful social investment strategies.
2. Ms. Funmilola Olotu will serve as Programme Manager for the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office. Holding a master’s degree in business administration and currently the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on state lotteries, Ms. Olotu brings extensive managerial experience to her new role.
3. Ms. Aishat Alubankudi has been named Programme Manager for the Grant for Vulnerable Groups. With a bachelor’s degree in community development and expertise in risk assessment and financial management, Ms. Alubankudi is well-prepared to address the needs of vulnerable populations.
4. Princess Aderemi Adebowale is appointed Programme Manager for the Home Grown School Feeding initiative. With a doctoral degree and experience as Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Civic Engagement, Princess Adebowale’s background also includes a previous role as a local government chairperson.
5. **Mr. Abdullahi Alhassan Imam** will lead the National Cash Transfer Office as Programme Manager. With a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and extensive experience in chief accountant roles and bank management, Mr. Imam brings valuable financial expertise to this position.
6. **Mr. Ayuba Gufwan** is named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for People with Disabilities. An LLB graduate and executive director of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos, Mr. Gufwan’s leadership is anticipated to significantly advance rights and services for people with disabilities.
7. **Ms. Lami Binta Adamu Bello** is appointed Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons. Holding a master’s degree in public administration, Ms. Binta’s previous roles include Secretary-General of ALGON and Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministries of Health and Women Affairs and Social Development.
