The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared Stella Oduah, along with four other aspirants to participate in its primaries ahead of the forthcoming governorship election to hold in Anambra State.
Stella Oduah currently represents Anambra North in the Senate and was a former Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan Administration.
The other aspirants to participate along with her in the primaries which is to hold on the 19th of August, 2017 are Lynda Ikpeazu, Dr. Patrick Ubah, John Emeka and Dr. Alex Obiogolu.
Two other prospective aspirants were however not cleared to join the primaries. Mr Oseloka Obaze had his cleared pended subject to a final decision to be made by the National Executive Committee of PDP, while Mr. Akolisa Ufokide was stopped from participating for having a dual citizenzip from both Nigeria and Canada.
Chairman of the Screening Panel and former Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Adamu Waziri, who made the disclosure while speaking with journalists, revealed that Ufodike was barred based on the provision of Section 182 (1) of Nigeria’s constitution, which states that anyone aspiring to become a governor of a state must hold only Nigerian citizenship.
